Can I modify a "flipper" ?
I went to the dentist recently and I inquired about replacing a missing tooth I have. Its not a very obvious missing tooth in the front but you can see I'm missing one when I smile hard. One option I had was doing replacement surgery which was very expensive and out of my price range. With that said the doctor suggested I try a "flipper" which basically is like a denture just for the top of my mouth with one false tooth to cover the gap where my real tooth was. I was happy at first buying the thing because it was not too expensive and I could get my smile back. However, after putting the flipper in my mouth it was very uncomfortable and makes it hard to talk. Its kind of like having a retainer in your mouth. It has a piece that looks like my gums with two pieces of wire on each side holding it on my teeth. I wonder if there may be some way to modify the thing by cutting it where I need it to be or something. I don't know if my dentist can do it for me or what but I haven't been using it because its just a pain to deal with. If anyone has info that would be useful for this let me know.
