I had open heart when I was 12, now 23.Should the scar still be sore?

When I was 12 I had open heart for aortic stinosis(sp?) and I expected the scar to be sore for the first few years, But now its still sore.I have brought it up to my new doctor many times and nothing is ever checked.I can't go to my original doctor since he's out of state(I moved) I have told my mom many times(I am still at home, helping with grandma and my nephew) Is it normal for it to still be bright pink and sore around the edges?
