I was stopped for shoplifting and paid a fine. Will this show up on a background check for police employment?

The fine was the only consequence; the police were never involved. Granted this was stupid; but I needed medication for my nephew and I was broke. The item in question was less than $10 and the fine was less than $100. This was in New York State. I am worried about whether or not this will affect my eligibility because I don't know to what extent a background investigator has access. Thank you
