Should I become a locksmith?

I was offered a job by the owner of a lock and safe company while I was at work as a burger flipper. He's a regular customer and wants to hire me based on my work ethic. I'm a college student, but I'm undecided on my major and I've been wasting a lot of money taking out student loans. I've been considering some IT field. I really just want to have the control over my life to be a good family man. I'm 25.
